Last year I promised I would keep you updated regarding the campaign www.stopthetunnel.co.nz and I am thrilled to tell you all that the Government decided in our favour. (Thanks Hon. Dr Nick Smith, Minister of Conservation)
To our many guests who helped by signing the petition, our community says a huge "Thank you". Your support helped a lot and as I kept saying, it was a big job for the little towns of Glenorchy and Te Anau to do and it took a lot of time and energy by the dedicated locals to ensure the environment stays pristine for the future generations.
We are still waiting for a decision regarding the monorail proposal at Te Anau, (www.savefiordland.org.nz) please help them and keep lobbying our MP Nick Smith. His email address is email@example.com (Please thank him for his decision regarding the tunnel in your submission!).
We are off to Nelson to the MANZ 40th Anniversary Conference next week, staying at Hanmer Springs for a couple of nights on our way there. I am so looking forward to a soak in the thermal pools. I like Hanmer Springs, its another special place hiding in the South Island!
My quote for the day is:
"You cannot shake hands with a clenched fist".
Talk to you all again soon,
